PATRICIA H. COOLEY

Patricia H. Cooley practices divorce and family law in Bucks, Montgomery & Philadelphia Counties and is widely regarded as one of Pennsylvania’s top divorce lawyers. For over thirty years Ms. Cooley has focused her practice in family law, including divorce, dividing marital assets, spousal support, alimony, child support, child custody, and domestic violence law. There are few, if any, other practicing attorneys in Pennsylvania with more experience or in-depth knowledge of the law and the courts in divorce and other family law matters than Ms. Cooley.

Having devoted her practice exclusively to Pennsylvania divorce law for over two decades, Ms. Cooley has handled hundreds of divorces and has acquired the kind of in-depth knowledge of complex issues in divorce and child custody matters that only experience can bring. Among these are the valuation and division of family–run corporations and other business interests, stock options and grants and other employee benefits, the drafting of qualified domestic relations orders, and the distribution of military pensions.

Ms. Cooley is especially known for her aggressive but fair negotiations in dividing martial property in divorce cases and her ability to achieve favorable results in a cost-effective manner. As with all the attorneys at Cooley & Handy, Ms. Cooley’s goal is to deliver value to her clients by providing exceptional legal services at a fair hourly rate and by avoiding unnecessary, ineffective and costly litigation tactics.

Ms. Cooley is a graduate of West Chester University and the Delaware Law School of Widener University. While attending West Chester University, she was a member of the National Honor Society for Philosophy. While attending the Delaware Law School, she was a senior staff member of The Delaware Law Review, and a recipient of the Ruby Vale Judicial Scholarship.

Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Cooley served as a judicial clerk in the Superior Court of Delaware and worked as an Assistant District Attorney for Bucks County, where she headed the Child Abuse Unit. As a former associate of the Law Offices of William L. Goldman, P.C., Ms. Cooley was trained by the renowned Bucks County divorce attorney, William L. Goldman, Sr.

Patricia Cooley also serves as an arbitrator in Bucks County and represents victims of domestic violence on a pro bono basis.

In her private life, Ms. Cooley enjoys hosting family gatherings, traveling, and participating in outdoor activities including scuba diving, boating and camping with her husband and their four children. A favorite destination of the Cooley family is the Thousand Islands, located on the St. Lawrence River between New York and Canada.
